About Yuli

Understanding first, always

Yuli is a tutoring company for GCSE and A-Level students, covering subjects from Mathematics to English Literature, from KS3 through to A-Level, against every major UK exam board.

It was made around one belief: students remember what they understand, not what they memorise. Most tutoring optimises for the next test, drilling answers until they stick. That rarely lasts, once the wording changes or the topic moves on, memorised answers fall apart. Understanding doesn't. Every Yuli lesson is built around making a topic actually make sense, not just recallable for a few weeks.

Our Approach

How every lesson works

The method stays consistent, even though every student is different.

Clear explanations

Every topic is broken down to its underlying logic first, rather than handed over as a shortcut to memorise.

Adapted to the student

No fixed script. Lessons adapt to how each student thinks and learns, not the other way round.

Real understanding, real confidence

Ideas are connected to real examples so they genuinely make sense, building confidence that holds up under pressure.

Applied in exams

Understanding is tested against real past-paper questions, so it holds up on exam day, not just in conversation.

Meet the Founder

Lukas Jovaisa

Lukas Jovaisa, founder of Yuli

Yuli was founded by Lukas Jovaisa, who's currently studying Mathematics at university. He's been tutoring for 5+ years, working with students from KS3 through to A Level, and started Yuli because he kept seeing the same gap: students taught to pass exams, not to understand them.

His approach comes from a simple belief, first found in language learning: understanding beats memorising, every time. He adapts to how each student thinks rather than sticking to one method, and goes outside the exam spec whenever it helps something click.

He still tutors while he studies, because he wants every student to reach the same moment: “wait, I can actually do this.”

Where Yuli Is Going

Growing without losing what makes it work

Yuli is still young, and growing carefully matters more than growing fast. The plan is to bring in more tutors who share the same belief, that understanding lasts and memorising doesn't, so more students can learn this way without losing the personal attention that makes it work.

Longer term, Lukas would like Yuli to move closer to the free, logic-first teaching he first found in resources like Language Transfer: making genuine understanding a little more accessible, not just for those who can pay for it.
